A Brief History of Our Church
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church was founded in 1960 with the support of Methodisms mother church of Arizona, Central Methodist Church. A group of individuals and families from Central acted on the dream of founding a Methodist church in the northeast Valley. Originally, the group met in the Cudia City Studio. Over time, they bought 15 acres of land west of the intersection of Tatum and Lincoln, situated between the Phoenix mountains to the north and Camelback Mountain to the south. At that time, the surrounding area was relatively undeveloped. Our founders foresight in securing the land has enabled our church to grow over time to expand our ministries while still being blessed by the beauty of our natural environment.
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church has helped launch other United Methodist congregations, most recently the Desert Mission United Methodist Fellowship in Carefree, Arizona. In our forty-plus year history, we have grown to be one of the largest United Methodist churches in the western United States. We embrace our commitment to being a place Where Gods Love Becomes Action.
