How to Get Involved with Paradise Valley United Methodist Church

The Lay Ministry Team’s mission is to discover ways to match people’s gifts and passions with opportunities to serve Jesus Christ from Paradise Valley United Methodist Church.

All persons can be in ministry. We recognize the potential in each person to make a difference using his or her unique abilities and interests. We believe that people are most energized and effective in their ministry and involvement when they are involved in something related to their points of passion. What excites you? We can help you find opportunities to be engaged in a ministry that relates to that passion.

To get started, please contact Karen McFarland at 602-840-8360, ext. 135, or via email. She will be happy to meet one-on-one with you or talk by phone to learn more about your interests and how you would like to be involved. If you have an idea for a program or ministry that is not currently offered, Karen and the Lay Ministry Team want to hear about it.

How to Become a Member

New Member Orientation is a way to learn more about Paradise Valley United Methodist Church. The New Member Orientation will offer an opportunity for you to meet with Pastor Kelly Bender and some of the lay leaders of the church. You also will learn more about Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, our membership, and how you can become involved in the church community and beyond. Orientations are held on designated Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information about the process of becoming a new member, or for information on when the next orientation will take place, please contact Karen McFarland in the Church Office at 602-840-8360, ext. 135 or via email or refer to our calendar.

Hospitality

Our Welcoming Ministry Team, working with staff member Karen McFarland, seeks to create a spirit of Christian fellowship and love for member and visitor alike. Self-described as the “Pineapple People,” in honor of the traditional symbol of welcome and hospitality, members of this ministry team are visible on our church campus on Sunday mornings and many weekdays. The team organizes an annual Celebration Sunday, a church-wide potluck held every September.

For more information, to share ideas or to get involved, please contact Karen McFarland at 602-840-8360, ext. 135 or via email.
