Get Your “Foot” in the Door Help Us Reach a
Mile High
Help our students get to the “Mile High” city of Denver, CO this summer. We
need to raise $5280 by selling the number of “feet” in a mile (5280 feet = 1
mile). Buy your foot at the youth dinner ticket sales table or in the
Paradise Perk. Write your nam e
on the foot and we’ll put it up on the Paradise Perk window. We have $1, $5,
$10, and $20 feet available. If you purchase a $10 foot, you receive a
coupon for $1 off any purchase in the Paradise Perk. If you buy a $20 foot,
you receive a $3 coupon. All purchases are tax deductible, so help us reach
that mile.

God delights in throwing parties, especially for prodigals. It’s called
grace, amazing grace.

In the novel, Bo’s Café, by Lynch, Thrall and McNicol, one of the
characters, Cynthia, contends that
“religious folk tend to see grace as soft. So they
keep trying to
manage their junk with their own willpower and
tenacity. Nothing
defines religion quite as well as a bunch of people
trying to do
impossible tasks with limited power while bluffing to
themselves
that it’s working.”
Oh my!
Jesus drew criticism for eating with prostitutes, tax collectors, and
other sinners. Religious folk were upset, believed he had gone “soft” on
sin. We’ll unwrap Jesus’ response Sunday morning in worship in “Who’s
Invited?” It’s amongst Jesus’ PARABLES WITH A TWIST.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Kelly
Worship this Sunday
morning
Pastor Kelly
continues a series of Sunday
morning messages that presents the PARABLES WITH A TWIST. This
Sunday's sermon is called "Who's Invited?" at the 8:00, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. worship services.
Read the scripture for
this service.
Music this Holy Week
Have you ever been lost and then found? Is there a bit of the prodigal in
all of us? We will sing the story of the prodigal son this week in our
hymns, spiritual songs, and anthems. We will look at the lost son with
hymns such as “Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah,” “He Leadeth Me,” and
“Amazing Grace.” We will sing praises choruses such as “Hallelujah (Your
Love is Amazing),” and “Through It All.” The Chancel Choir and Adult
Praise team will sing Choplin’s “Lead Me Back” which combines the story of
the prodigal and the musical setting. At 9:30 and 11:00 this will be
followed by the celebration of the family with the return of the younger
son through the words “Heleluyan” which is Creek Indian for Hallelujah.
This is the anthem to be sung by the Youth Choir. Sing with us this day as
we find a bit of the prodigal in ourselves.

the garden weeded and trimmed. If you have an hour a month to spare to
help keep the garden beautiful, please contact
